The 2018 Bowling.com Youth Open Championships will take place this summer at Cityview Lanes in Fort Worth, Texas. Tournament dates will be July 12-13, 20-22 and 28-29. The annual tournament, which started in 2007, is held in conjunction with the Junior Gold Championships, which will take place in the Dallas area in 2018. Bowling.com , which also is a founding partner of the Youth Educa- tion Services (YES) Fund, began its sponsorship of the Youth Open Championships in 2014. “It has been a great opportunity to partner with the IBC Youth team during the last four years in support of the Youth Open Champion- ships,” said Ben Dodson, CEO of Bowling.com. “Youth bowling is im- portant to all of us in the bowling industry and we are excited to con- tinue our affiliation with this tremendous event.” Based in Nacogdoches, Texas, Bowling.com will continue to reward outstanding performances by providing a $100 scholarship to any competitor who has a 300 game or 800 series during the competition. At the 2017 Bowling.com Youth Open Championships, two bowlers earned a $100 scholarship for their perfect games. Every participant also will receive a gift, compliments of Bowl- ing.com. Online registration for the 2018 Bowling.com Youth Open Champion- ships now is underway. This year, International Bowling Campus Youth Development will have registration through the USBC Event Registration portal. “The USBC Event Registration portal is easy to use, provides com- petitors the opportunity to see what dates and times are available, and allows them to register at any time,” said IBC Youth Managing Direc- tor Gary Brown. The addition of the Youth Open Championships to the USBC Event Registration portal is part of an ongoing process to standardize the registration of all USBC Championships events. The portal:  Improves efficiency and simplification of the registration process  Provides a real-time view of available squad dates and times  Gives competitors the ability to manage rosters and substitutions  Automatic calculation of fees  Immediate registration  Ability to pay by credit card Competitors can go to BOWL.com/YouthOpen a nd click the Informa- tion section to access the USBC Event Registration portal. IBC Youth has provided detailed instructions on how to use the portal, also lo- cated on the Information page. The Youth Open is a non-qualifying tournament open to any USBC Youth member. Competitors bowl nine games total – three games each of singles, doubles and four-player team. The tournament has scratch and handicap divisions for U10, U12, U15 and U20 bowlers. More than 230 teams and nearly 1,150 bowlers took part in the 2017 event which had a scholarship fund of more than $80,000. Youth Bowlers Tour @ Windsor Bowl & Double Decker Lanes We started the weekend off at Windsor Bowl with our Youth Sport Shot Singles! Thank you to the Pattison Family for being such great hosts! They also collected $575.00 through a ball raffle to add to his days scholarship payout. We had 66 bowlers show up and hit the lanes. We awarded over $2,000 in scholarships as well. Our Bronze Division had some new faces in the elimination rounds. Round one had our top Seed Ruthie French, #2 Jack Bandy, #3 Maddie Kummer and #4 Tyler West. Jack was eliminated first and took home $80.00 in scholarships for 4th place. Next out was Tyler West and he earned $100.00 for 3rd place. The championship match had Ruthie taking on Mad- die. A fun match to watch as this was something new for both. Coming out on top was Maddie Kummer and she won our champions award, a banner, a jersey and a scholarship for $175.00. Ruthie as a runner up received a $125.00 scholarship. great bowling to all and we hope to see you at more YBT events in the future. The Silver Division is full of up and coming stars. The top 4 is a peak into our future ... #1 seed was Matthew Sartoris. #2 went to Matt Pumphrey. (both of these guys will be moving up to Gold) #3 seed was Alyssa Alexandr and the #4 went to Noah Briceño. First bowler eliminated was Matthew. ($80.00 scholarship) Our next match saw Noah taking the early exit but he took a $100.00 scholarship with him. Our championship match was the calm Matt Pumphrey taking on Alyssa Alexander. Matt left with his 2nd YBT title and $175.00 scholarship. Alyssa left us with $125.00 for the runner up spot. The Gold Division was a bit crazy. Top seed was young Jimmy Hunter, he bowled amazing in the qualifying round. #2 was the regular and steady Daniel Chin. #3 seed was hometown hero and local favorite Chris Milne. And the #4 seed was 9 finger Ryan Burton. Match one looked to be settled until a big split popped up in the 10th frame. This narrowly elimi- nated Jimmy Hunter and he took home $80.00 for 4th place. benefitting from the bad break was Chris Milne as he stayed alive to see another game. Round of 3 was another close game. Chris narrowly passed by again as Ryan Burton took home 3rd place and $100.00. The championship match was a little louder as the hometown kid was in the championship match. When it was all said and done, Chris was living right on this day as he collected his first YBT title, jersey, banner, champions award and $175.00 in scholarship! Congratulations to Chris! Our runner up was Mr. Daniel Chin who is a regular in the finals of every event. Daniel took home the $125.00 runner up scholarship. On Sunday, we drove up the road about 15 miles to Double Decker Lanes in Rohnert Park. Thank you to the great Decker Family and General Manager Dennis Ganduglia for hosting our Youth / Adult Doubles event. Thank you to the league bowlers at Double Decker as they raised $750.00 in a ball raffle to add to our scholarship funds this day. Also thank you to Dennis for his personal contribution of $500.00 to the YBT. Dennis has always been a great supporter of youth bowling. We were able to award almost $4800.00 in scholarships on this day! The Youth / Adult is always a popular event. Even with the longer drive for most, we had 85 teams hit the lanes. (170 bowlers) They all bowled 5 games of qualifying and then we cut to the top 12 teams in each division. The top 4 received a BYE in round #1. You can take a look at how the match play went on our website results at www.Youth-Bowlers- Tour.com The final 4 in the Handicap Division went like this … Semi-Final Matches: Ayden Walker & Bob Murphy defeated Jessica Goudie & Bruce King 447 to 400. Andrew Rose & Marcus Harris defeated Joey Irvin & Bill Mey 388 to 383. Our 3rd-4th place youth each received a $200.00 scholarship. The championship match went to Ayden & Bob with their 479 to 405 title match scores. Ayden received a $400.00 scholarship and Andrew a $300.00 scholarship for the runner up spot. The Final 4 in the Scratch Division Had Dylan Sager & Ed Floyd defeating Jonah Martin & Ivan Yee 493 to 430. The other semi final match had Ryan Burton & Brittany Kritzer defeating Welby Spanton & Andrew Modder 428 to 407. Jonah and Welby each took home a $200.00 scholarship. The title match went to Dylan & Ed with a final score of 503 to 459 over Ryan and Brittany. Ryan received a $300.00 scholarship and $400.00 to Dylan. Thank you to our incredible sponsors ...
