9-Tap Tour - Las Vegas
Thanks to some strong recruiting efforts from our
Members in
Hawaii
and
Seattle
there was a strong out
of town contingent competing yesterday as bowlers
from the
Seattle
and
Hawaii
divisions were in town
visiting Las Vegas.
Not to be left out,
Cleo Aragon
from CA also brought
a few new Members as well. All together,
58 en-
tries
were recorded with what could have been a pre-
view of the
Multi-Region tournament
being held
at
Gold Coast, January 27-29th, 2017
. Scores came
back to our cut line as 12 Members made the 'Cash list'
with a cut score of
924
and the 9-Tap Jackpot was also
teased again.
Cecil Abay-Abay
visiting from Seattle,
walked away with
$100.00
for his 4-Taps. A total
of
$3,457.00
was paid out. For next week the Jackpot
stands at
$3,068.00
and the Progressive Pot is once
again over a grand at
$1,089.00.
The day started out extremely busy with applications
coming to the Membership Desk from all direc-
tions. After all the processing, average verification and
3 squads were completed, the
Hawaii divi-
sion
came out on top with new Mem-
ber
Joe Holty
winning his 1st tour title with
a nice
1111
series and a check
for
$763.00.
Lenard Blackman
, cashing
again for his 3rd time was feeling very con-
fident at the beginning of the day and got
locked in to finish with his personal best
of
1010
, good for the number 2 position
and $446.00.
Jennifer Esguerra
remained
very calm for the entire 4 game set and
looked to be zoned in, finishing with a

f o r 3 r d p l a c e
and
$273.00.
Congratulations
to the Top
Three!
Joe Holty
was in town this weekend for
another event and found out about the 9-
Tap Tour. Unaware of the
Hawaii 9-Tap
Tour
back home, I joked that he came a
long way to join when he had could have
done so back on Oahu. Coming in early,
he decided to give the second squad a
shot. Joe put together a fine set with scores
of
278
,
280
,
281
and
272
with handicap for
a nice
1111
. Joe used his
Hammer Black
Widow Legend
drilled by
Roy
at
Fort
Shafter
back home in Honolulu. I watched
Joe for awhile and he was very good at
putting the ball in the same place on most
shots and when he pulled it brooklyn, he
got 9 or more. Consistency and a little luck
will get you on the 'Cash List' more often
than not. He noted that he was a little
nervous and had rubbery legs, but got over
that by just having a great time.
Joe plans to put his winnings toward a trip to Mex-
ico. I Guess when you live in Paradise.....you want to
go visit something different? Joe was cheered on by
his fellow league members also bowling this week-
end. Congratulations Joe on your first Tour Title and
since you are not leaving until Sunday, we expect to
see you at the Orleans next week to see if you can be
the Las Vegas Tour's first back to back winner!
47
entries,
$3,749.00
paid out, 9 Members on
the
'Cash List'
and a cut score of
909
. Nice to see the
entry count climbing back up this week! The manage-
ment team at
Silver Nugget
are Tour members
Ms.
Vicki Snyder
and
Teresa Bird
and they provided great
customer service to the Tour as usual yesterday.
Ms. Vicki provided a
$15
gift certificate to give away in
each squad for the first 4 taps in a row or to the squad
leader if no one had 4 taps.
Leon Pitcher
led the 12
Noon squad to be the first winner, while
Kenny
Fowler
had 4 taps in the second squad to win the sec-
ond certificate.
Kenny Reynolds
had 5 Taps to close
out the 5pm squad to take the third certificate. Kenny
was
SO CLOSE
! He got the pins falling down (and
standing up) in his favor during his 3rd game when he
strung the first 5 no tap strikes before a messenger
wiped out the 7 pin on his 6th ball giving him a natural
strike, ending his quest for 7 but earned a
nice
$250.00
for his efforts.
The leader board kept changing all day long.
Leon
Pitcher
had the top spot first, then
Mo Clark
took sole
possession in the second squad over
Christine
Fowler
who was trying for her
3rd
title and white
Champion shirt. The final squad of the day had two
Champions duking it out for that Red shirt. After all the
dust had settled,
Jimmy Bell Jr.
stood in the winners
circle, claiming is
2nd
title since
Sunset Station
back
in May and
$976.00
. Coming out of the gate with
a
267
scratch game, Jimmy dipped about 100 pins in
game 2 before rebounding after the lane switch with
games of
298
and
221
scratch for a final series
of
1032
. Not too far behind was
Alex Watanabe
who
put together a solid 4 game set, including the day's
only
300
game to finish with
1006
and a nice 2nd place
check for
$440.00
.
Mo Clark
, who was cheered on by
his wife and daughter had his best outing, finishing in
3rd place for
$280.00
.
Kenny Reynolds
,
Christine
Fowler
,
Sean Carney
,
Orrie Smith
,
Allen Swin-
son
and
Gregory Mamac
also found their way to the
cashier's table.
Congratulations to
Jimmy Bell Jr.
for
his second title and to the rest who made the money!
Jimmy Bell Jr.
could not wait to celebrate his
2nd
tournament win
with his brother
Richard Wash
,
Al
Swinson
, and his buddies from high school who were
cheering him on to victory. Jimmy used his Black Ops
by
900 Global
, drilled by
Jimmy G. at Silver Nugget
.
Plans for his winnings? Spend it on the family since
they 'let' him bowl again in the last squad. He also
noted that after bowling poorly in his first entry, he .
