Northern California Junior Elite Tour
By Debbie Haggerty
In July 2014 while attending the National Jr Gold
Championships I was approached by several youth
bowlers wanting to talk about a new tournament club
so they can better prepare themselves for Jr Gold.
WelbySpanton was instrumental in helping plan, pro-
mote and implement this idea into the newly formed
NCJET Jr Bowlers Tournament Club. We had several
meetings with different bowlers and parents and came
up with our tag line, ―Compete with the Elite‖. The
Club was formed and just finished our first season,
crowning our Players of the Year and our NCJET All
Star Team.
We must give credit to Lindsey Wong and Vaughn
Karabedian for their help with the structure as we
modified the old NCJBT Club that they once operated.
The point system is fair and not only rewards bowlers
for performance and attendance but also penalizes for
violations of the rules.
We held 8 events this year and averaged 50 bowlers
per event. We have asked coaches to come and vol-
unteer their time to help the kids learn about Sport
Patterns, equipment and lane play. Each event is a Jr
Gold Qualifier and all scholarship funds are handled
by SMART. We have several sponsors: 3G, 900
Global, BowlersDeals.com, Dexter, Vise, 1-2-3
Awards.com and Logo Infusion.

USA Bowling National Tournament
Qualifying Starts In October
By Terry Bigham
USA Bowling crowned its first national champions dur-
ing the summer and the path to the 2017 USA Bowling
National Championships starts next month with the first
of 16 regional events.
The USA Bowling Regional events will be held through-
out the country to determine the 32 regional champions –
16 teams in the 15-and-under division and 16 teams in
the 12-and-under division – that will advance to the na-
tional championships tournament in Cleveland in July.
―The inaugural USA Bowling Championships was a
great experience for everyone involved and it was excit-
ing to see youth teams compete for a national title on
television,‖ said International Bowling Campus Youth
Development Managing Director Gary Brown. ―Youth
bowlers from throughout the country were able to see the
excitement of this tournament and we encourage teams
to take advantage of the opportunity to compete in a re-
gional event and possibly earn a spot in the national
championships.‖
IBC Youth Development started USA Bowling as a team
-based youth program to introduce youngsters to the
sport. The program follows the structure of other youth
sports by placing children on a team, providing a coach,
and holding regular practices and weekly competitions.
The USA Bowling Regional events were introduced
three years ago to give teams additional opportunities for
competition. The regional events led to the first USA
Bowling National event in 2016 with the finals televised
on CBS Sports Network.
