Columbia 300 brings back a legend with the Piranha Solid, a modern take on the vibrant orange ball that once dominated lanes across the country. Rooted in the heritage of the original Piranha line, this release blends classic control with updated technology to meet the demands of today’s conditions.

At the heart of the Piranha Solid is a refined version of the iconic Piranha core. By adjusting the core density and removing the original PowerCOR nugget, Columbia 300 raised the RG and lowered the differential, creating a motion focused on consistency, stability, and control. The result is a predictable early roll that reads the lane smoothly and stays on line without overreacting at the breakpoint.

Encasing the core is the proven HyperFlex Solid coverstock, a non-HK22 formulation that found success in recent releases and delivers dependable traction where it matters most. Paired with a 1500 Siaair finish, the Piranha Solid digs into medium-to-heavier oil with confidence, producing a smooth yet assertive motion that blends the lane and keeps your carry strong.

The Piranha Solid is built for bowlers who value control when conditions get challenging. It’s strong enough to handle volume but disciplined enough to maintain energy and continuation through the pins. On fresh patterns or medium-heavy house shots, this is the type of ball you can trust to start with and build around.

And the bold orange shell says it all — the Piranha is back, and it’s ready to dominate once more.

Its alright...

As soon as I heard C-300 brand was being retired, I bought this ball. Some of my top performing balls in my collection are C-300, so I thought this would be a nice addition.
I'm speed dominant and this ball shapes OK..I have around 6 games with it has decent shape on med oil house shot. I also threw some polish on it and used it on the burn at my other alley with satisfying results. I feel this ball will be a good benchmark ball with some good usability.
There is definitely no question what ball is being rolled when this goes down lane.

Didn’t live up to expectations for me

The Columbia Piranha Solid just didn’t live up to expectations for me.

No matter what I tried, I couldn’t get any kind of defined motion out of this ball. It felt like it wanted to roll, but never really committed to a strong shape—just kind of blended everything together without creating a clear read or finish. Instead of seeing a distinct move off the spot or a confident roll through the pins, the reaction came across as flat and uninspiring.

Because of that, it was hard to trust. When you’re not seeing a predictable motion or a consistent shape, it becomes difficult to make confident adjustments or repeat shots. Even when I felt like I threw it well, the result didn’t match the execution.

It may work better for someone looking for a very smooth, early, and controlled reaction—but for me, it lacked the definition and continuation needed to be effective.

Struggled with: Lack of shape, weak continuation, hard to read
Potential fit: Very control-focused players or specific conditions

Final Verdict: 2/5 – Just couldn’t get a consistent or defined reaction out of it
